WHAT IS KITBASH? JEFF TELLS ALL.

Hello ARP family!

Jeff here. Way, way back in May of 2013, I announced my plan to start a branding agency. Here is the link to that post for those interested. With the help of the wonderful Allison, Kitbash launched and I have been growing it ever since.

I know you are asking yourself, "What is a branding agency?" Don't worry. It is the most common question that I get. Essentially, it’s a graphic design firm with a focus on a company’s overall brand. Think about Apple and how everything associated with them from the MacBook to the iPhone has a cohesive feel to it. Even their packaging is extremely thought out. That is what we do for our clients- help them present the best version of themselves to the world. We show what makes your company unique. This includes creating logos, websites, business cards, letterhead, print or digital ads, t-shirts...the list goes on and on.

Check out our new site at getkitbashed.com and tell me how much you love it. If you feel like this is something you need, let’s get together and talk shop.

SOMETHING NEW FROM ARP: KITBASH BRAND DESIGN

Kitbash_670px

Hi All,

Jeff here, you know, that guy from Allison Rodgers Photography, the Little Blog of Big Ideas and lbobi Radio? Today, I want to tell you about our latest adventure that I am heading up. It's called Kitbash : Brand Design. I am sure you are asking yourself, "What is a Kitbash?" Allow me to explain it with a brief back story.

As many of you know, Allison and I were both Art Directors for 7 years before we started our portrait studio 8 years ago. So design and branding have always been near and dear to our hearts. We have discussed for a while offering to the public our design services, which we've been doing privately for clients and friends for years. We love helping other business owners put their best designed foot forward, and from this desire to help, Kitbash : Brand Design was born.

Defined: Kitbash is the practice of constructing a new, custom model by combining pieces from different kits into a single, unique creation.

I thought Kitbash was a great conceptual name for a creative agency. When Allison and I help businesses with their branding, we like to take what they already have and combine it with the new parts we create for them, creating a new unique brand that tells their story.

All about Kitbash!

Website: The first phase is up, and we will be adding the blog as the second phase in the coming weeks. You can check out the site here: http://getkitbashed.com/

Blog: We are still using the lbobi blog as the main place to post. You can check it out here: http://lbobi.com/

Podcast: And finally, Kitbash Radio is our bi-monthly podcast that usually runs about :30. On this show we like to offer design, branding and marketing tips for business owners. You can listen to our first episode here or jump over to the podcast page or listen in iTunes.

In our very first episode of Kitbash Radio, author Brian LeTendre and I are joined by the friendly Allison Rodgers to talk about the origins of Kitbash Brand Design, the evolution of lbobi, and how important it is to get your branding right. We also answer listener questions about logo design from the Kitbash Facebook page.

ARP Published : Amy Howard

Blog1_howard

Let me take a moment to introduce you to the amazing Amy Howard . Amy and I first met about a year and a half ago when she called ARP to photograph some of her incredible furniture. I truly think that Amy and I could sit and chat for hours - when we get together we turn into giddy artsy girls with big crazy dreams. She is so passionate about what she creates and she can get excited about the texture on a stone and develop an idea for a new chair from it! Let's just say she's super talented and you can't help but feel it when you are around her.

After a while of shooting for her furniture line, she finally asked me to photograph her!!!! I get so excited about the challenge of making grown-ups feel comfortable in front of the camera. When you can relax and be your natural self your images can't help but be amazing and I LOVE these images of her in her element. Doesn't she look beautiful!!!

Amy's hair & make-up were done by : Mary at Secret Services Salon

Amy's work and our images have been featured twice recently in local publications : Style BluePrint Memphis  and 4Memphis. We are so honored to work with Amy and the wonderful staff of Amy Howard Collection.

Thank you Amy for choosing us to tell your story!

EMHE : MONTGOMERY ALABAMA!!!!!!

Well. Well. Well...

I know many of you have been waiting for a few "behind the scenes" shots from our recent Extreme Makeover Home Edition - so here you go!!!!

We can't begin to tell you how blessed we have been to be a part of this amazing gift to the Jordans of Montgomery Alabama. So many people working tirelessly to create a HOME for this sweet sweet family and being asked to join in and do what we do best - to tell their story - what an honor.

Much of what I'd like to tell you - I can't - YET! But as soon as the show airs I'll be able to go in to detail and give you the backstory to why and how we shot the things we did.

We arrived in Montgomery on Sunday night and were there until late Tuesday. We shot Monday, edited, did post work, designed and presented on Tuesday. On Wednesday we were back at the Studio working a normal day as well as finishing  up all images and making sure everything was posted and to our lab late Wednesday night. WHCC printed and overnight more prints than I can even count - most being custom sizes and many were large...  EVERYTHING on this show is donated - our time, travel, our work, our lab's work, shipping and everything from everyone else. Incredible to be part of such a generous event.

The entire crew was awesome! Ty, Paul, Tracy and Eduardo were the Designers on this show and we were able to create some very special pieces for these guys - especially Ty. The Producers were also amazing - you'll see me with one of them below - Billy (I'm making a crazy face - what else is new...)

As soon as we know the air date we'll make a BIG announcement!!!! And we'll be posting more behind the scenes images over the next week.

Thank you - Billy, Eva, Matt, Ty, Chaz, Paul, Amber, Tracy, Eduardo, T-bone, Jack - and everyone else on the EHME crew, WHCC, & The Jordans (Monica, Brady, Brittany, Miles, Shan, & Tay-Tay) - you guys totally ROCK!!!!

Billy Joe (03-04-2009 at 12:15pm):

DID you do the shots for the collage and potraits stuff in the house??

Jeff Rodgers (03-04-2009 at 1:19pm):

Billy,
We did shoot the collage and portraits for the house. I will post all those images after the episode airs in a couple of weeks.

Fred Bennett (03-11-2009 at 10:28am):

Every once in a while my wife Val wants us to go to a photographer for family pictures. I usually view this in the same category as a trip to the dentist. What a surprise when we visited Allison and Jeff this week with our church staff. It was a fun and truly delightful experience. Can't wait to see the pictures.
I was also impressed by their faith in expanding during these economic times!
