NOVEMBER 3RD:
Today I am thankful for the Starbucks RED CUP.
There are new designs every year and here is a little background info for the 2011 cups:
"This year, we were inspired by the idea of people sharing their own stories and experiences to create the holidays at Starbucks. We used deco-inspired illustrations to create scenes that are open to the interpretation of the viewer – playful interactions between a cast of characters. The idea is to let people fill in the blank and make it their own story. And through all of our shared stories, the holiday spirit is brought to life.
We hope you have a wonderful holiday season. "

So why does the arrival of the RED CUP cause such a flood of emotions for people? Well, in our busy worlds we enjoy things that create special moments. Seeing the red cup makes me get excited about the holiday season, it makes me want to sip a peppermint mocha and dream up new Christmas traditions, and plan when we are going to make cookies. It creates nostalgia. And when you become nostalgic you take pause, and taking pause means slowing down - which most of us do not do enough.
So here's my challenge to you - if you treat yourself to a RED CUP - take a moment and think about how you want to spend your time this holiday season. Slow down — be intentional, create traditions, become nostalgic.
Tell us a Christmas tradition that you love!
At the Rodgers house we like to watch White Christmas while we put up the Christmas tree :)
And I have a feeling we'll be doing this very soon.
Thankful :)
