Our friends Jeremy & Denise Horn asked us if we wanted to make a road trip to see Coldplay 3.5 hours away in Birmingham, Alabama. Of course we said yes. I did not fully think through what going to bed at 4am and getting up the next morning was going to feel like. The last time I did that I was sporting a much earlier version of Jeff.
I was very happy to get in my new best friend for the trip. The Panasonic Lumix LX3, is arguably the very best point and shoot camera on the market today. It was so hard to find that people are selling it on ebay for $200 more than the price listed on Amazon. I did not pay the ebay price. I was patient and picked it up on Amazon. For the techies here are the cameras specs: 24-60mm f/2.0-2.8 LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMICRON Lens 24mm Ultra-Wide-Angle in Multiple Aspect Ratios / 1-cm Macro / 4.5x Extra Optical Zoom
The Coldplay concert was awesome. They played for about 2 hours and came across like genuinely nice guys. Chris Martin (the lead singer) on several occasions thanked the audience for attending the show on a Monday night. The best part was when they left the stage and came to the middle and performed a couple of songs on a mini stage a couple yards from our seats.
Here are some pics I took with the LX3. It was the trial run of the camera so I was experimenting with a lot of different settings. Mostly I stuck with going aperture priority at f2.0 and letting the camera tell me what the ISO should be. Then switching to manual and adjusting those settings. There are some video clips of the trip as well and I will post those later in the week.
Enjoy!
Thanks Jeremy and Denise for the invite!
