ALLISON RODGERS PHOTOGRAPHY FACEBOOK GROUP

We recently created a facebook group for ARP. I am really fascinated by the way facebook has grown over the last six months. It is like watching viral marketing in action and here I am cultivating its growth. I have been able to connect with a lot of photographers and friends from school. Even old colleagues from the advertising days. Pretty spiffy little site. I know a lot of you love your myspace but facebook is such a better designed and faster loading page. Minus all the automatic audio and glitter associated with myspace.

If you have a facebook account come check out the group.

Cover of The Desoto Commercial Appeal

Allison and I are featured on the cover of The Desoto Appeal today. Pretty interesting...

Olive Branch studio featured in Professional Photographer

"It's something that I certainly never thought would happen this soon," Allison said. "We are, as the industry calls it right now, a boutique studio -- we kind of take it to a different level -- and that's one of the things that PPA liked about us and that's why they wanted to do a story to begin with."
"We're not traditional shooters in the sense -- we like to capture kids the way they are," Allison said. "Maternity sessions to newborns to babies ... children, families, (high school) seniors. We do limit ourselves to one to two weddings a month....

US :)

Here's a group of random self-portraits of the ARP CREW!
This truly shows our personality as a studio - very goofy. We like to have fun and our goal is to make you have fun too! So yes, we act a little wacky - especially me... BUT as my staff hears me say time after time: the best smiles happen before and after a laugh!!! So giggle!!!!!

NEW YORK GEEKOUT

Here are a couple of images that I shot in NY this weekend. Nick and I flew up to meet some friends at the giant geekout called New York Comicon.

It was pretty interesting, being my first time to NY. Shot Times Square and you will see I got some good shots of the famous Stan Lee. Stan Lee along with Jack Kirby created most of the characters from Marvel Comics. Fantastic Four, Hulk, Spiderman...

I will post some more images tomorrow.

I became an member of Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep this past March and I have already been on 2 calls. The amazing staff at The Le Bonheur NICU are always so sweet and gracious and I LOVE that they really care so deeply for every tiny patient and their families.

If you don't know about this organization, I've included some copy from their website along with a link. As a mother, I can't imagine the loss that these parents feel. And as a mother, I know I have to do whatever I can to help them through that. Images of your children are some of the most cherished things you will ever have. It's my pleasure to go into these situations ready to "serve" and give the gift of memories.

NOW I LAY ME DOWN TO SLEEP is a non-profit organization.
All proceeds go directly into the operation of this organization to help parents who are experiencing an early infant loss.

Pregnancy and birth are miraculous journeys. This amazing time of life is full of mystery, anticipation, joy, hope, and wonder. Feeling the powerful energy of birth and new life, watching as a new family is born unto each other. These things humble and amaze. These are the things that we celebrate when a baby is born.
But there is another aspect of pregnancy and birth. There is an unexpected place in this journey where some families may find themselves. When a baby dies, a world is turned upside down. There is confusion, sadness, fear, and uncertainty that cannot be explained. There is sorrow where there should have been joy. During this time, it might be impossible for families to know what they might need in order to heal in the future.

The Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation (NILMDTS) administers a network of nearly 3,000 volunteer professional photographers in the United States and eight International countries. At a family's request, a NILMDTS Affiliated Photographer will come to your hospital or hospice location and conduct a sensitive and private portrait session. The portraits are then professionally retouched and presented to the families on an archival DVD or CD that can be used to print portraits of their cherished baby.

Our entire network of affiliated professional photographers graciously donate their time and talents to our families and we are proud to be able to offer our services at no cost.Your Donations are greatly needed and greatly appreciated

What a wonderful and needed organization. My husband and I lost our first child, a daughter named Madeline Maria, in 1994 after a perfect pregnancy and delivery. Fortunately, we had our cameras and family around (expecting joy) and my sister took photos that are so special and treasured to our family. Now, my two younger daughters will always know what their sister looked like (she was beautiful!)
Thank you for doing this for those families that are dealing with such a profound loss, that they may not otherwise think of taking photos of this special occasion.
God bless you for your work.

Allison, this organization is such a blessing..........It touches me so........I, too, lost a baby boy at birth.....I never got to see my baby; he actually died two weeks before birth.
