EASTER continued

I just wanted to post about Fable's telling of the Easter story.
There's nothing sweeter or sometimes funnier that the stuff that comes out of Fable's mouth.
We have many stories... like how she wanted an American Flag for Christmas. She said if she got an American flag to put on her bed - robbers would know that she's an American citizen and they wouldn't bother her.
How cute is that. But I have to admit, that the Easter story is one of the sweetest things I've heard her say. We were at dinner the other night and after she told me our waitress looked so much like someone we know, that they could be nocturnal twins, she proceeded to say "let's talk about Easter!" And then she started her story - "did you know that there were these men that didn't like Jesus... and so on"

I can only imagine how happy it makes HIM to hear that sweet little voice tell his story. From our family to yours - we hope you've had a blessed Easter.

Love : The Rodgerses
(Rodgerses sounds so goofy - but my MOM the English/Latin teacher says it correct - weird)

Our 2007 Weddings...

Every wedding is unique. This is what makes them so interesting to shoot. Allison and I are really looking forward to the 2007 season officially kicking of April 21st.

Something fun we like to do at every wedding is to find an ideal spot to shoot a self portrait of the two of us. I will post more of these this week.

People say all of the time : "I bet you have so many pictures of your kids." And sadly the answer is "no." I do shoot the girls quite a bit in the Studio, but when it comes to the day to day stuff, I'm usually without a camera. After my week is over, it's really hard for me to pack up my gear and want to take my big cameras everywhere I go. So, when I'm with family I usually steal someone's camera and shoot - or I just say - hey can I get copies...

Well NOT anymore!!! We purchased a little very tee-tiny point-n-shoot camera. Yes, it does have just a few bells and whistles, but not many. Are you ready to hear what it is???

It's the Canon SD800 Digital ELPH. And I really like it. I've posted an image of it below. What I like about it most is that it's easy and I can take it anywhere. It shoots well in low light, and have a great deal of control over what I tell it not to do - like not shooting with the flash on. Even if I'm in auto mode. Finally, I can shoot images of my family any time I want. We've already hit the 1500+ mark... I'm going to need large photo albums. And where would I get those? http://kolo.com/

I have moms ask me all of the time what kind of camera they should buy. And truthfully, it really depends on what you are shooting. I've considered offering a basic class on teaching you how to get better images of your children - but it's still just one of the many thoughts running around in my brain. If you've read this post and your interested, then post a comment.

We'll be traveling tomorrow - so if I don't have internet access, then I won't be able to post until Saturday.
But please check back - bc we have a big Easter surprise coming up :)

Here is an image of the camera (its also a link - so click on it for more info) and some images from it - Enjoy!

I'll take that class:)

Ashley Jones Bodie (04-07-2007 at 12:29pm):

Hey Alli!
Thanks for posting the info about the camera. I've been wanting to get a new one for a while, but with the grad school schedule I have no time to research the best cam to get. Now I can use your advice instead.
Heard the bridal photo shoot went well yesterday. Hope to see you all soon.

I would love the class! The blog is great and I really appreciate the camera info. I have a Minolta Dimage Z1 and I really love the pictures, but it is kind of large (although not as big as one of your cameras!). However, the 2 things I am worried about are the zoom (my daughter is in a LOT of school things and I need to be able to get good shots of these) and motion (my little one is always moving and I always end up with blurred images). Any thoughts on how your camera is with these? My camera does have a motion setting, but they still come out blurry.

Anne Caraway (04-11-2007 at 4:23pm):

I would be interested. Depending on day, location, cost, etc..
Most new parents probably would.

Rell Farris (05-04-2007 at 5:42pm):

Hi Allison,
I love the new website! I don't think I've ever cried while looking at a photographer's wedding gallery before! It's the music that gets to me. Maybe Matt and I will get married all over again just so we can have you shoot the wedding. I have been working for Holliday's Flowers and we do all the Bonne Terre weddings. It is so cool to look at all the great shots of our flowers. I would love to take a class and so would my friend Kellie. So, sign us up. I need to learn to take better shots of my kids. Unless we get a permanent ice rink, I won't be able to afford you anymore! Haha!
Love your work, Rell

Rell Farris (05-22-2007 at 10:25am):

Okay, I bought the camera, now I just need a class! I love it, but I'm still trying to figure out all the features.

Jeri G (08-31-2007 at 12:16pm):

I would also be very interested. Just let me know if you decide to do it and I will be there.

Tammy (07-26-2008 at 2:04pm):

Hi Allison,
I'm about to become a mom in a week or so and I just developed a love for photography in the past year. (I took it as a fun elective in college my last semester and it ended up falling in love with the art).
If you offer a class to teach how to get a better shot of your child I would LOVE to find out more!!!

Kaye Cates (04-02-2009 at 5:42pm):

I would absolutely love to take a class!!!

John (04-26-2009 at 8:50pm):

I love seeing these great example of real photographic skill. They're just hard evidence that you don't have to buy a fancy expensive dslr camera to get great shots. It's all about exposure and composition. Great job!!!

My new favorite color is

Not just any old green but somewhere between an apple and a leafy green. The kind of green that just makes you happy. I know I'm strange - but it's true. My sweet mom gave Jeff and I a whole new set of Fiesta-ware in Shamrock Green for our 7 year anniversary. I LOVE it! When I get up in the morning to start my day off with a cup of coffee in my new cool green mug - I have to say it does make me happy. I'm a sucker for classic design and amazing color.

Something else on the subject of green: Yesterday after work, we were out in one of our favorite places to be - our backyard, and Fable found a FOUR-LEAF CLOVER! I'm not sure how I'm going to preserve it - but I have to figure out a way.

I'm so thankful that everything is turning green. There's something about this time of year that makes me feel refreshed and ready to go again. I get to shoot outside, Wedding season starts and if I wanted to, we could grill out every night!

Take a second and enjoy your family. Time flies by way too fast. Ever, our youngest, is already 7 months old. I feel like she just arrived. She waved good bye to Katie at the Studio today and it made me so happy and sad all at the same time.

So even though Spring/Summer is getting geared up - sit back and enjoy whatever version of managed chaos you have.
